The Penelope[s] on Tour

The Penelope[s] are embarking on their first North American tour this week. This French indie electronic duo share with bands like Cut Copy and M83 a distinctly pop sensibility that draws on indie rock from the early 90?s and mix them with elements of synth-pop and early house to create a sound that appeals to home listeners and club kids alike.

After a track on DJ Hell’s International Deejay Gigolo label, they released of their first album,The Arrogance of Simplicity in 2006 on Vitalic‘s Citizen Records. Their fame grew quickly. Within a year The Penelope[s] had played the best European festivals (Sonar,Razzmatazz,Dour),opened for Human League and Ladytron, been named alongside Justice,Sebastian and The Klaxons as the revelation of the year by the readers of Trax Magazine and caught the eye of designer Agnes b.,who championned them early on.

Their debut US album,“Priceless Concrete Echoes “,produced by BlackStrobe‘s Arnaud Rebotini, confirms their status as one of the most exiting bands to emerge from Paris’ digital renaissance,The Penelope[s] push the envelope of French scene, keeping sophisticated, strange, unique, demanding with explosive live performances. Be sure to catch them live on their first ever US tour.
