“How should I begin a story that has no beginning ?” asked a sampled voice on the opening notes of Wax tailor’s second album, Hope & Sorrow. Tales of the Forgotten Melodies is the kind of albums that was years in the making. Originally released on the now defunct Under Cover label in France, picked up by the now defunct Decon in the US, the album defied stacked odds against it to become a staple of downtempo / trip-hop music everywhere in the world. Classic tracks abund, from Que Sera to Hypnosis Theme, to the dramatic textures of How I Feel. It seems, 10 years after its original release, that this album keeps seducing more and more fans as the word of mouth spreads, each with their own favorite moment.
